I like this website because it explain why we should use databases in the classroom, they hype of technologies, and connect databases with Bloom Taxonomy. Also, there’re introductions to databases such as excel, palms, powerpoint, word, and web page creation. In addition, there are lesson plans/resources provided. Therefore, I this is a very useful website.

Spreadsheets in Classroom

http://www.amphi.com/~psteffen/excel.html I like this website because it’s has vast resources on using spreadsheets in the classroom for many grade levels and subjects. It also has tutorials and guidelines on how to use spreadsheets so I think that it’s very helpful for new users of spreadsheets. I have never thought of using spreadsheets in my teaching before but I might use it in the future graphing, data analysis, and linear transfomations seem very interesting to me.

I chose this website because it was the first link that showed up when I typed in “smart classroom” in the google search engine. It gives a very easy to understand definition of smart classroom, which is a classroom that has a instructor station equipped with computer and audiovisual equipment, allowing the instructor to teach using a wide variety of media. However, I don’t like the word selection of “smart classroom” because does that mean classrooms of 20, 30 years ago are not smart? Since they didn’t have it back then.

History of Computers in Education

I like this website because it’s informs us the history of computers in education through a time line format which makes it easy to understand and read. One of the things that’s new to me is that vacuum tube-based computers were developed in 1946. It also mentioned that IBM’s first commercial computer was sold in 1955, so was that the world’s first commercial computer or just IBM? I’m a teacher so it’s interesting to know that the Elementary and Secondary Education Act in 1965 brought new money into schools for technology.

First Week

It was a hectic first week of the new quarter at Cal State for me. Not only did I changed all three of classes but I changed my master’s program! Now, basically I have to play catch up because I missed the first day of class of my new classes. Oh well, it’s not that bad.
